Some information from http://www.mindanaotimes.net/passenger-lack-prompts-airline-to-stop-davao-singapore-service/:
Singapore-based budget carrier Tiger Airways will soon pull out its Davao-Singapore direct flight due to low load factor, its representative bared.
Delza Gochoco, officer in charge of commercial affairs of Southeast Asian Airlines and Tiger Airways resident agent in the Philippines, told the TIMES in a text message that there is a “very poor load” from the city to Singapore or vice versa.
“Tiger Airways decided to stop the flights entirely due to poor load,” she said, although she did not say yet when the company would finally stop the operations.
The low-cost carrier is a subsidiary of Tiger Airways Holdings, a Singaporean-based company partially owned by Singapore Airlines.
Gochoco said average load factor hast just been about 50% since the low-cost carrier started its operations on Nov. 1 last year, a load factor that can hardly sustain operations. The company operates its direct flight from the city to Singapore or vice versa three times a week with its Airbus A320 that has 180 seats.
The budget carrier has also low load factor in December last year despite that the month was considered a peak season.
The number of passengers represents that there is an average of 95 passengers out of 180 seats per flight. For the airline to break even, load factor should at least be 70%.
Sad to say the cheap flight from Davao to Singapore is not available anymore.
Hope Singapore Airways and Tigaer Airways will bring back there davao to singapore and vise versa route because it is really a big help from us davawenyos.
